How Can You Help Cancer Patients Here in the Hudson Valley?

  Hudson Valley Cancer Resource Center is a 501(c) 3, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for and connect the Hudson Valley community of people living with and affected by cancer with informational and educational resources and support services to improve quality of life through all stages of the cancer journey. Casey MacDonald, cancer patient advocate and lymphoma survivor, created the organization after her husband, father and best friend were diagnosed with incurable cancers within six months of each other. The center’s website, www.hudsonvalleycancer.org, is a navigational tool for cancer patients, cancer survivors, their families, caregivers and healthcare professionals to find necessary resources, programs and services needed to help ease the burden of challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis. They service 10 counties of the Hudson Valley region- Westchester to Albany, including Sullivan County. National, regional and local resources listed on the website include financial assistance, prescription assistance, co-pay assistance, lodging during treatment, insurance information, medical supplies, career and cancer information, support groups, hospice information, bereavement care, palliative care, camps, retreats, legacy trips and scholarships. There is also a news bulletin of latest cancer news, app of the week feature, blog, and regional events calendar.   In their inaugural year, 2013, the Hudson Valley Cancer Resource Center, located in Montgomery, navigated and advocated for over 105 cancer patients and their families. HVCRC helped families access financial assistance, co-pay assistance, prescription assistance, insurance services, lodging during treatment, palliative care and support groups. HVCRC resolved complicated, hard to solve cases; medical support far from home, legal representation to avoid home foreclosure due to medical bills, intervention with insurance companies for delayed chemotherapy treatments. All services are free of charge to Hudson Valley residents regardless of where they are being treated for their cancer.

Your support is needed to continue these free services to all Hudson Valley Cancer patients.

Proceeds from our March for Cancer 5K will continue to allow HVCRC to add additional life saving resources and programs for Hudson Valley cancer patients including support groups;

Men Living with Cancer and F.Y.A – Fearless Young Adults for teens, Cancer to 5K and Transportation Assistance Program.
